It is also popular in interior photography, where the focal range from wide-angle 17mm to an almost standard aspherical lens elements are used in conjunction with one and eliminate aberrations and ensure high image quality appropriate to an L-series lens. The ring-type USM focuses very quickly and accurately with no rotation of the front of the lens- allowing effects from polarizers and other filters to remain intact. An almost perfectly circular diaphragm ensures smooth out-of-focus highlights and pleasing background blur.
