Types of Tumble Dryer
The first thing to decide is whether you want a vented dryer or a condenser dryer.
Vented Dryers
Use a hose placed out of a window or through an outside wall to expel damp air while drying.
Condenser Dryers
Collect the moisture from your clothes in a water reservoir that you can take out and empty, so there is no need for venting, or holes in the wall, or open windows in the middle of winter!
Load Size
Choosing a larger load size can help you save time, energy and money. If you have a larger capacity washing machine it is important to choose the same load capacity, or larger, as this allows you to dry a full wash load in one go! Load sizes are currently available in 3kg (compact), 5kg, 6kg, 7kg and 8kg capacities.
Energy Efficiency
Fullsize Dishwashers
All our tumble dryers are issued with a performance class rating for Energy, and are graded from 'A - G', with 'A' being the best.
Look for the energy saving recommended label if you want the most energy efficient appliances for your home.
Energy Table
All machines will receive an energy and drying performance grading A-G (A being the most economical).
Standardised tests, monitored by Trading Standards, are carried out across the industry and manufacturers are responsible for grading their own appliances.
Energy Saving Tips
Save Energy & Money by following these simple steps:
Try not to overload your tumble dryer as this will reduce drying efficiency and use more energy.
Use higher spin speeds or a spin dryer to extract more water before using a tumble dryer.
Dry washing outdoors whenever possible.
Use a "set & forget" tumble dryer which automatically senses when clothes are dry and switches to cool tumble to save energy.
Look out for the energy saving recommended logo on laundry & dishwashers.
Tumble Dryer Programmes
Set & Forget Sensor Drying
If you like the idea of saving energy then a "Set & Forget" sensor dryer could be right up your street! Dryers with this feature automatically switch to cool tumble when your clothes are dry to save energy, and prevent items from becoming "over-dry" leaving them easier to iron. Some sensor models are selectable to give "iron dry", "airing" or "cupboard dry" performance.
