If you own your own home, you may need to consider having buildings cover; as mortgage lenders usually make this a condition of your mortgage. You may also want to consider protecting your possessions with Contents Insurance; Contents insurance offers repair or replacement of damaged items up to the level shown on your policy schedule.

For building cover this would be the cost to rebuild your home in the event of a total loss, not the value of your house. Very Home Insurance will offer cover of up to £500,000 to rebuild your home. For contents cover this would be the value to replace all of those items you would take with you if you moved house, including things such as carpets and curtains. Very Home Insurance offers cover of up to £75,000 to replace your contents. It is easy to underestimate the value of your property and its contents, but it is important to ensure you will not be underinsured.

The cost of home insurance depends on a number of factors such as where you live and the size and construction of your home. Buying a combined policy can often be cheaper than getting two separate policies. Very Home Insurance like most policies has cover limits so it's important to ensure that these are sufficient for your circumstances. Very Home Insurance gives you the option to add covers such as accidental damage and personal belongings away from the home, as well as Family Legal Protection and Home Emergency so you can tailor the cover and cost of the policy to your needs and circumstances.

The policy term is 12 months, at which point you can choose to renew this policy. You will be notified at least 21 days before your policy is due to renew.

When you have purchased your policy, your documentation will be sent to you by email. You will also be able to access your documentation 24/7 through your "My Insurance Account", where it is available to view.

If you cancel the policy within 14 days of the date you receive your policy documents you will receive a refund of the premium in full provided no claim has been made. If you cancel your policy after 14 days of the date you received your policy documents you will receive a refund of the premium on a pro-rata basis provided no claim has been made. Please note there will be an administration charge for cancellation to cover the administration costs of arranging the policy.

Yes, should you need to claim under Very Contents Insurance, and your items cannot be repaired you could receive brand new ones in the event of a claim. If the original is not available it could be replaced with the nearest possible alternative. Please see the policy wording for more details.

Properties with up to 4 bedrooms can be covered. If your property exceeds this unfortunately a quote cannot be provided.

Very Home Insurance has a standard policy excess of £100. For subsidence this is £1,000. You can choose to increase this excess up to a maximum of £250; this increase is known as a voluntary excess. Increasing your policy excess may decrease the cost of your insurance; however the value of the excess is the first part of any claim that you would have to pay.
