How to buy


When shopping for furniture, choose the product you want to buy and select the insurance cover from the options presented


To protect an item you've already bought, log into My Account and view Product Protection.


Something to keep in mind; you can only cover items you've bought from Very within 60 days of your purchase.


Why should I buy Very Protect - Furniture? Is my new furniture likely to break?

Even the most reliable products and brands can develop structural defects. As your furniture gets older there’s a higher likelihood that it could develop a structural defect. Very Protect - Furniture provides protection for up to 5 years, giving you the peace of mind that you wouldn't need to pay for repair or replacement if your product developed a fault within this time. The cover for structural defects starts on the expiry of the manufacturer’s warranty period.

The policy also covers you for accidental damage including staining, rips, tears & burns from the day your furniture is despatched. The cover excludes some situations for example; not taking care of your item, wilful abuse or misuse and wear and tear.

Will I be covered under my home contents insurance?

Please check your household insurance policy carefully to see what you are covered for. Typically your household insurance will not cover you for structural defects and may not cover you for accidental damage. You may also be covered if you hold any other insurance products so please check these thoroughly too.

With your home insurance you may also need to pay an excess charge and your premiums may increase as a result of making a claim. With Very Protect - Furniture structural and accidental damage is included as standard with no excess to pay. If you have existing policies such as these that give the same cover elsewhere, you will need to consider whether you may be paying for duplicate cover by purchasing Very Protect - Furniture.

Won't my product come with a manufacturer's warranty?

Most manufacturers offer a 12-month warranty against any structural defects, but they may not include cover for accidental damage. With Very Protect - Furniture you'll be covered for up to 5 years. Accidental damage will be covered from day one and you will be covered for structural defects once your manufacturer's warranty ends.

Does Very Protect - Furniture protect against Accidental Damage?

Yes. With Very Protect - Furniture you will have accidental damage cover from day one.

Isn't Very Protect - Furniture expensive?

The cost of Very Protect - Furniture is small compared to the amount you may have to pay to repair or replace your item.

Will my Very Protect - Furniture cover end if I have any repairs?

No. Your Furniture cover will continue after you have had a repair and you can make unlimited number of repair claims on this policy. The cover only ends if an alternative settlement is provided.

Can I only buy Very Protect - Furniture for products I've bought from you?

Yes, unfortunately we can't offer Very Protect - Furniture for products bought elsewhere.

Is there an excess to pay on Very Protect - Furniture in the event of a claim?

No. There is no excess to pay on the policy if you make a claim.

How do I make a claim?

Claims should be registered as soon as possible, following the fault being identified and no longer than 28 days after noticing the damage. If you report a claim after 28 days we may not consider your claim, claims outside this timeframe will be considered on a case by case basis.

If my product has a structural defect, do I have rights under the Consumer rights Act?

The benefits offered under Very Protect - Furniture are in addition to your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Under this Act, if the product you purchase is subsequently found to be defective then you will be entitled to a remedy such as a repair, a replacement or a refund. This legal right lasts for up to 6 years (5 years in Scotland). If the product proves defective in the first 30 days after purchase then you may reject the goods and request a full refund. Thereafter, you will be entitled to a repair or replacement but if those remedies are not possible then you can claim a full, or partial, refund depending on the age of the goods. Can product insurance be bought elsewhere?

You may be able to buy similar cover from other insurers, manufacturer's, some other retailers and specialist online providers, but they may not provide the same level of support or service as Very Protect - Furniture.

If my furniture has a structural defect whilst under manufacturer's warranty, who should I contact?

You must contact Very (Shop Direct Home Shopping) as structural defects within the manufacturer’s warranty are not covered by this insurance.

I've decided that I don't want Very Protect - Furniture cover any longer. Can I cancel the policy and get a refund?

You can cancel your policy at any time. If you cancel your policy within 28 days of taking out the cover you'll receive a full refund of your premiums. If you cancel your policy after 28 days you will receive a pro rata refund based on the number of unexpired months remaining. If you have made a successful repair claim before you cancel your policy, the cost of the claim will be deducted from the refund due to you.
