As denim production has a greater tax on our planet, it’s more important than ever to keep our jeans in wearable condition for as long as possible. Unlike other garments in your wardrobe, regularly washing jeans leads to fading, draining the denim of its colour over time. The key to keeping your jeans looking new for longer is to wash them as little as possible, once every month or so is more than enough to ward off unwanted smells and ensure they’re well kept.
Denim Do’s and Don’ts:
· Wash on a maximum temperature of 30 degrees
· Opt for a gentle machine washing program
· Spot treat stains in-between washes
· Wash jeans inside out to preserve colour
· Never use fabric softener
· Never tumble dry, this will fade the colour further
· Hang dry on a drying rack
Myth Busting
Contrary to popular belief, freezing your jeans won’t kill bacteria but rather put it into hibernation, to keep jeans fresh in-between washes, air them outside whenever possible and invest in a good fabric spray.
