So, charge up those controllers and free up some space on your console, we’re about to take you through 8 of our most anticipated 2026 releases that you can already pre-order, and 7 more that you’ll want to keep an eye out for!

Mario Tennis Fever

Expected release date: 12th February 2026

Platforms: Nintendo Switch 2

Get set for explosive on court action with Mario Tennis Fever!

The latest entry in the Mario Tennis series sees you use familiar shots like slices, lobs and spins, along with new slide moves and defence-focused footwork to outpace even the toughest opponents. Build up your Fever Gauge to keep rallies going and use powerful Fever Shots and Fever Rackets to unleash special abilities against the competition.

Hit the court with all the familiar faces from Mario, with a whopping 38 characters available to play as, and enjoy multiple online and offline game modes like Tournament, Trial Towers, Mix It Up mode and even a story mode.

Plus, you can even experience next-level Joy-Con 2 motion controls with Swing Mode – a controller mode where you can gently swing your Joy-Con 2 controller like a racket for a more authentic experience.

Resident Evil Requiem

Expected release date: 27th February 2026

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 & PC

February brings some exciting thrills and chills with the latest game in the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil Requiem.

Capcom’s beloved survival horror series steps into a new era with its ninth mainline title, following FBI technical analyst Grace Ashcroft as she investigates an abandoned hotel in connection with a string of mysterious deaths across the country. With the help of franchise favourite, the legendary Leon S. Kennedy, Grace must face her past and return to the place where it all began: the iconic Raccoon City.

Play as both protagonists with each offering different styles of gameplay – experience heart-stopping horror as Grace and dive into pulse-pounding action with Leon. Expect series' classic survival horror mechanics with puzzles and resource management, as well as combat that blends both the horror and action elements of previous instalments into one exhilarating entry.

Pokémon Pokopia

Expected release date: 5th March 2026

Platforms: Nintendo Switch 2

This even cosier take on the world of Pokémon sees you take a step back from battling gym bosses and catching a Pokédex worth of Pokémon to instead enjoy a relaxing simulation game dedicated to crafting, creating, and building.

In Pokémon Pokopia you play as a Ditto in a human form, as you craft items, befriend your fellow Pokémon and transform the world from a wasteland to a Pokémon paradise.

Collect rocks and wood to build with, till the fields to grow delicious crops and build homes for the Pokémon you meet. As you make progress, you can even build a nice big home of your own—and then invite Pokémon and other players over to hang out!

There’s so much to do, but don’t worry – there’s no need to rush! Go at your own pace and enjoy the journey. So, go on, why not savour the slow life in this super cosy Poké-sim?

WWE 2K26  

Expected release date: 13th March 2026

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 & PC 

2K’s annual WWE offering sees some notable gameplay upgrades and fun additions in this latest instalment. Enhanced physics, environmental interaction and improved weapon realism take the action to the next level, while new match types, like new I Quit, Inferno, and Dumpster matches, let you unleash chaos in the ring.  

WWE 2K26 sees the largest roster yet, featuring over 400 playable WWE Superstars and Legends such as The Rock and Triple H, as well as new additions Rey Fénix, Rusev, and Blake Monroe. There are also big updates to the Creative Suite as well as WWE Universe, MyGM and MyRISE modes, letting you create your own living, breathing wrestling world.  

This year’s Showcase mode lets you relive the decades long career of “The Best in the World” CM Punk, taking you through iconic rivalries, legendary matches and ‘what if’ scenarios that explore a world where Punk never left the business.  

So, light up the ring and run the show your way in WWE 2K26!  

SAROS  

Expected release date: 30th April 2026  

Platforms: PS5 

Building off the success of their previous roguelike action-adventure Returnal, developers Housemarque return with SAROS – a fast-paced, cinematic sci-fi action game. In this single-player roguelike experience you play as Arjun Devraj, an enforcer in pursuit of answers on the shape-shifting world of Carcosa, a planet filled with dark secrets and hostile inhabitants.  

After every death you’ll face a changed world, with resources, enemies and paths shifting on each new run. It’s up to you to upgrade your character and evolve your arsenal so you can come back stronger every time!  

Housemarque’s signature bullet ballet combat is on display here too, with gameplay that feels fluid as you dodge, shield, parry and learn the attack patterns of your enemies to gain the upper hand.  

So, if you’re into adrenaline-fuelled, arcade-inspired mechanics, exhilarating moment-to-moment gameplay and climactic boss fights, all running alongside a mysterious, moving story, be sure to check this one out.  

Forza Horizon 6 

Expected release date: 19th May 2026

This year sees the return of one of Xbox Game Studios flagship franchises with Forza Horizon 6, back with its biggest open world driving adventure yet. Drive across breathtaking landscapes, from the neon-soaked Tokyo streets to stunning mountainous countryside areas, as the series heads to Japan for the very first time.  

Uncover the secrets hidden within Horizon's densest map yet, as you work your way up through the ranks to qualify for the Horizon Festival, completing challenges, races and events, all while unlocking better, faster cars along the way. And with customisable homes, garages and over 550 real-world cars that you can finetune to your liking, you can truly make the world your own.  

Experience a sprawling campaign of discovery and high-stakes racing, playable solo and in online co-op, as you cruise the city streets, race on rural roads and experience authentic stories rooted in Japan’s legendary car culture!  

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight   

Expected release date: 27th May 2026

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S & PC with a later Nintendo Switch 2 release  

Experience a classic Batman story with a twist in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.  

In this action-packed open world adventure, you’ll don the cape and cowl to become the caped crusader and build the Legacy of the Dark Knight, brick by brick. Take on crime and clean up the streets of Gotham with a mix of classic Batman detective skills and an exciting new combat system that combines fluid combos with stealthy techniques.

007 First Light   

Expected release date: 28th May 2026

Coming off the back of their wildly successful Hitman: World of Assassination series, IO Interactive has you step into the well-shined shoes of suave superspy James Bond in 007: First Light, a re-imagined origin story that takes you from maverick MI6 operative to certified 00 agent.  

This cinematic action-adventure sees you take on a series of missions in pursuit of a rogue agent who’s always one step ahead. You’ll explore breathtaking locations, get behind the wheel of iconic vehicles and meet series favourites like M, Q and Moneypenny.  

This globe-trotting third-person thriller lets you tackle each mission your own way – will you go in guns blazing with fists and firepower, or will you infiltrate enemy lines in true James Bond style, with gadgets, stealth and a little bit of sweet talk?

While there’s no official date on the cards, so far these games are slated to be released some time in 2026. It’s always possible that they might get pushed back but for now we’re letting ourselves get excited about them and you should too!
