Types of false lashes

There are 4 main types of false eyelashes

Strip Lashes

Strip lashes is the name given to the lash type which replicates the length of the natural lash but with styles that vary from extremely natural to extra glam. These lashes come in two application options:

  • Glue on - traditionally the most popular form of strip lash. The lashes are applied using a separate glue.
  • Pre-glued - a newer innovation where the lashes are already on an adhesive band. Application is quicker and easier.

Individual or flared Lashes

A small flared lash knotted at the base which is applied to the lashes themselves and used several at a time to create a bespoke, semi-permanent look.

Lash Extensions

The most natural looking lash enhancement. Thicker style, single lashes are applied to a single natural lash to create a longer length result. Finish is semi permanent as it can last up to 4 weeks.

Fashion Lashes

Various styles of Strip lashes that can use glitter, feathers, colours and other embellishments to create a trend based style.

Applying strip lashes

Strip lashes give a lovely, longer lashed look that can be removed at the end of the day - quickly and easily. The lashes make a huge difference to the appearance of the eyes - they look more open and have far more impact.

Top Tips:

  • Different lash styles come in one length but eyes don't! The key is to measure the lash against the eye and then trim the lash at the end to ensure that its right for your eye. For lashes that vary in length from the inner to outer eye we recommend you trim from the shorter edge.
  • You can apply mascara over the lashes for a deeper effect but this should be avoided if you wish to use the lashes again!

Step 1: Using an Eylure Easi-lash applicator or a pair of regular tweezers grasp the lashes lightly but firmly.

Step 2: Take the Lashfix applicator from the vial and apply a thin line of the adhesive (it dries clear!) to the band of the lashes

Step 3: Wait a few seconds until the adhesive is tacky then apply to the eye, just above the lash line

Step 4: Using the tips of your fingers press into position on either side until the lashes are fully adhered.

To remove: Simply grip at the inner edge and pull smoothly out and away from the eye. Remove the excess glue and return to the tray to use again!

Applying individual lashes

Individual lashes are a great semi-permanent solution for beautiful lashes. They are particularly useful for achieving a particular result as the different lengths can be used along the lash line in any combination. The flared style allows the application of fewer lashes for a greater effect.

Top Tip:

  • For the classic look - use the shorter lashes for the inner eye, the medium lashes for the middle of the lash and the longer length on the outer edges to frame and elongate the eyes.

Step 1: Clean Lashes and eyelids to ensure they are oil free. Pour a few drops of Superfix Lash adhesive onto a piece of aluminium foil.

Step 2: Choose a lash and remove from the tray with an Easi-Lash applicator or tweezers. Dip the knotted end of the lash into the adhesive.

Step 3: Start with the left eye, using your right hand place the lash on top of your own lash with the knotted end close to but not touching your eyelid.

Step 4: Gradually work towards the outer corner. In general you will apply between 7 and 14 lashes per eye.

Applying lash extensions

Lash Extensions are a perfect example of a pricey and time consuming salon treatment that can be reproduced more quickly and inexpensively at home. Lash Extensions are the most natural lash enhancement available.

Top Tip:

  • For the classic look - use the shorter lashes for the inner eye, the medium lashes for the middle of the lash and the longer length on the outer edges to frame and elongate the eyes.

Step 1: Clean Lashes and eyelids to ensure they are oil free. Pour a few drops of Lash Extend adhesive onto a piece of aluminium foil.

Step 2: Choose a lash and remove from the tray with an Easi-Lash applicator or tweezers. Dip the knotted end of the lash into the adhesive. Wait until about 30 seconds until the glue is tacky.

Step 3: Start with the left eye, using your right hand place the lash on top of your own lash with the knotted end close to but not touching your eyelid.

Step 4: Stroke the lash extension down the lash retuning to your starting point (this will give the extension a larger surface to adhere to and ensure the full wear period for the lash)

Step 5: Gradually work towards the outer corner. In general you will apply between 15 and 30 per eye.

More top tips

  • Strip eyelashes kept in good condition can be used over and over again. Carefully remove any glue with fingers or tweezers and never use heated eyelash curlers, which can cause false lashes to split.
  • For easier application of lash extensions - use Petroleum Jelly or a Gel patch (not included) to keep the bottom lashes under control.
  • During the application of Lash Extensions we suggest using a lash comb to comb out the lashes prior to the application of each lash (avoiding the lashes already applied)
  • Never try and pull lash extensions or Individual Lashes off once the glue has set. Care for & Cleanse lashes with cool water. Oil based cleaners will soften the adhesive. Be gentle, do not rub or use a towel on your eyes. It is recommended to avoid mascara wear while wearing the lash extensions.
